Just an hour from the Daajing Giids harbour, Skidegate Point and its surrounding waters offer some of the finest salmon fishing in the world. Here, guests have the opportunity to target all five species of Pacific salmon, as well as halibut, lingcod, and a variety of bottom fish.

Dungeness Crab
Every trip concludes with the exciting opportunity to pull up crab traps, giving you the chance to bring home fresh Dungeness crab for dinner. Guests can choose to take their crabs home live or enjoy the convenience of having them cleaned and prepared into clusters—compliments of your guide. It’s the perfect way to end your Haida Gwaii adventure with a delicious, locally-caught feast!
Our vessel and what to expect
Step aboard The First Catch, a 22-foot Seaport powered by a reliable 300hp Mercury Seapro engine and a 15hp Pro Kicker for trolling. Designed for both comfort and adventure, the boat features cushioned seating, a table, and a cozy bed in the bow—perfect for a quick rest during your journey. Each charter can accommodate up to four passengers, offering an intimate and personal experience.
Important Health and Safety Information
As we navigate to remote locations hours from healthcare and with limited communication, it’s essential that all passengers are able-bodied and free from serious health concerns. If you have any doubts, please contact us beforehand, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. For the safety of everyone on board, we reserve the right to decline guests whose health may pose a risk to the operation.

While there is no permanent bathroom on the vessel, a portable toilet will be provided for your convenience.

All Pricing is based on a charter with up to 4 Guests, safety gear, and all fishing gear. Pricing DOES NOT include saltwater fishing license, transportation to and from harbour, food and drink, custom fish processing at T&M seafood at the Daajing Giids Wharf, gratuities.

Meet the Team

Eli Gladstone
FOUNDER/GUIDE
Having been raised on Haida Gwaii, Eli has spent his life fishing, hunting, and exploring the region’s waters, building a deep knowledge of the area.
Eli began his career with four years of guiding and two years in Resource Conservation with Gwaii Haanas. He later founded Haida Gwaii Marine Solutions, completing contracts for invasive green crab trapping and research, as well as marine debris removal.
Eli is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Simon Fraser University, which he will complete in 2025. His combination of hands-on experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and academic background ensures that every charter with Reel Haida Gwaii Adventures is not only unforgettable but also guided with expertise and care.

Ernie Gladstone
BOAT OWNER/GUIDE
Ernie, Eli's father, has lived on Haida Gwaii his entire life, growing up in the area's rich and diverse marine environment. He spent his early summers on the waters guiding, dabbling in commercial fishing, and exploring the Islands.
In 1992, Ernie began a career in protected area operations and management, and continues with this work today.
Ernie is excited to be on the water and fishing, something he has enjoyed since his early summers. His extensive knowledge, deep connection to Haida Gwaii, and decades of experience make him an exceptional guide who's ready to share the magic of this remarkable place with others.

Linden McDiarmid
CREW
Linden is currently pursuing a degree in Archaeology at Simon Fraser University. Born and raised on Haida Gwaii, he has spent his life fishing, food gathering, and developing a deep appreciation for the islands' unique ecosystems and culture.
He started his career with McDiarmid Environmental Consulting, working on salmon and invasive green crab research, later expanding into marine debris removal and conservation work.
Having also dabbled in tourism earlier in his career, Linden is thrilled to re-enter the industry, sharing his expertise and passion for Haida Gwaii with visitors from around the world.
